DUSD 2024 Golden Apple Recipients Kim and Dan Yrigoyen

The Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Leadership honors exemplary service to individuals who have made a significant and positive impact on the school and community. Duarte Unified is proud to celebrate Dan and Kim Yrigoyen, who joined other recipients on Feb. 27th at the Santa Anita racetrack to be honored as 2024 Golden Apple recipients. Dan and Kim Yrigoyen were selected to represent Duarte Unified School District due to their impact on the marching band, students, and community.

Current Band director, David Borok, states “From the first day I met them, Kim and Dan welcomed me with open arms into their band program. The kindness and support they showed me from the beginning is the kind of welcome most band directors could only dream of. This program is incredibly busy, with a competitive marching band that hosts their own tournament, a competitive jazz band that hosts their own festival, a concert band that hosts a district-wide showcase, and a drumline and color guard that compete all over Southern California. I simply do not see how this would all be possible without the inspiring efforts of Kim and Dan Yrigoyen."
