Preliminary Report

The Real Property Advisory Committee (RPAC) completed its initial analysis on August 31, 2016. The committee prepared a priority list of use of surplus real property, pursuant to the provisions of Education Code section 17390(b) that is provided below. 

NOTICE OF ESTABLISHMENT OF A PRIORITY LIST

OF USE OF SURPLUS REAL PROPERTY THAT WILL BE ACCEPTABLE TO THE COMMUNITY AND NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BY THE REAL PROPERTY ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR THE DUARTE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

Pursuant to the provisions of Education Code section 17390(b), the Real Property Advisory Committee of the Duarte Unified School District (“Committee”) has prepared a priority list of use of surplus real property that will be acceptable to the community.  The Committee considered six options, including closing one of the five elementary school sites or not closing a site.  The Committee ranked the options as follows and has made a preliminary determination to recommend the highest ranked option No. 1:

 

1             Close BEARDSLEE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, l1212 Kellwil Way, Duarte, California 91010, and sell pursuant to California law at the property’s highest and best use value.
          

The remaining options ranked as follows:          

2             Close ANDRES DUARTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, 1433 Crestfield Drive, Duarte, California 91010, and sell pursuant to California law at the property’s highest and best use value.

3             Close ROYAL OAKS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, 2499 Royal Oaks Drive, Duarte, California 91010, and sell pursuant to California law at the property’s highest and best use value.

4            Close VALLEY VIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, 237 Melcanyon Road Duarte, California 91010, and sell pursuant to California law at the property’s highest and best use value.

5             Close MAXWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, 733 Euclid Avenue, Duarte, California 91010, and sell pursuant to California law at the property’s highest and best use value.

6           Do not close a school or surplus any property.             

The RPAC will hold a Public Hearing for the purposes of discussion of the priority use list set forth above.  Said Public Hearing will be held on September 8, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) located at 1401 N. Highland Ave., Duarte, CA 91010.
