APPLICATIONS:
Due to the board vacancy, the Duarte Unified School District is requesting all those interested in serving on the school board to submit an application. Applications are available here on the district website, www.duarteusd.org and at the District Office, 1620 Huntington Drive, Duarte, CA, 91010. Applications should be emailed to [email protected] or brought to the District Office no later than July 16, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.
To be eligible to apply for appointment to the Governing Board, an individual must be at least 18 years old, be a resident of the Duarte Unified School District, be a registered voter in the State of California, and not be disqualified from holding civil office by the constitution or any law of the State of California.
This appointee will hold office until the next regular election in November 2024.

NOTICE AND DURATION OF
PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT
OF BOARD MEMBER
On July 26, 2024, the Governing Board of the Duarte Unified School District provisionally appointed Eddie Howard to fill the Board vacancy created by the resignation of Kenneth Bell. His notice of resignation was filed with the Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools on June 24, 2024, and made effective June 28, 2024. Mr. Howard will hold office until the next regularly scheduled election of District Board members, which is November 2024, subject to the provisions of Education Code sections 5091 and 5093.
Unless a petition calling for a special election, containing a sufficient number of signatures, is filed pursuant to and in accordance with Education Code section 5091, with the Los Angeles County Office of Education Superintendent’s Office within 30 days of the date of the provisional appointment, Eddie Howard’s appointment shall become an effective appointment.
